Remote Intern, Information Systems Management

United Nations, IIIM on Syria, Remote (Geneva)

A six-month internship with the Information Systems Management Section. The work combined open-source research on Syria with the information management that has to sit behind it: source verification, structured documentation of findings, and analytical reporting written for colleagues who needed to act on it rather than read around it.

On the technical side I worked in Python and Jupyter on data cleaning and analysis, and on reproducibility, making sure a result could be regenerated from its inputs rather than taken on trust. I also completed the IIIM Open Source Investigations Training Programme during the placement.
